How much smaller will the file get?+
It depends on the source and the level. Strong compression drops resolution to 480p and cuts the size dramatically. An already-compressed clip will gain less.
Will the quality drop?+
Yes, compression always costs something. The stronger the compression, the more noticeable it is. "Light" preserves the picture and keeps up to 1080p, so the difference is barely visible.
Why does compression take longer than trimming?+
Here the whole video is re-encoded, frame by frame, instead of just being copied. That's why the progress bar and the time take longer, especially on a long clip.
Does the file get uploaded to a server?+
