Start with the part most comparison pages leave out: if you know which model you want and you are comfortable calling an API, prepaid platforms like Replicate and fal.ai are cheap, and no consumer product beats them on unit price. Including this one. We are not going to pretend otherwise.

What their own users complain about is everything around the generation. Support requests that go unanswered for months. Spending limits that get bypassed. A balance wiped with no notice. A signup flow that loops on a captcha until you give up.

Fast, well-engineered, and popular with people building products on top of image and video models. Its billing complaints are the sharpest in the category.

An aggregator with an interface, automatic refunds and API keys on the same balance. If your only requirement is the lowest possible unit price for a model you have already chosen, a prepaid platform is the better buy and you should use one.

Same credits, from your code or from the browser

Programmatic access is not a separate product here. API keys authenticate against the same account and draw from the same balance as the web app, so there is no developer tier to buy and no second price list to reconcile.

That combination is the point: a balance that does not expire is exactly what an intermittent automated workload wants, and it is the thing a subscription-gated competitor structurally cannot offer. Unlimited plans elsewhere generally do not extend to API keys, because an unmetered API on a flat fee would be underwater immediately.

Credits never expire. The balance is a counter that only moves when you add to it or spend it. There is no monthly reset, no rollover cap, and no expiry date.
Subscription credits stack. A quiet month leaves the balance where it was, and the next drop lands on top of it.

Is Replicate cheaper than Azurade AI?▼

For a single model you have already chosen, usually yes. Prepaid API platforms sell close to raw cost with no markup and no subscription, and we are an aggregation layer on top. If unit price is your only criterion, use them. The argument for us is what happens around the generation: automatic refunds on failure, an interface, and a balance that does not expire.

Does Azurade AI have an API?▼

Yes. API-key authentication is in place, you can create a key from your account, and there is a served OpenAPI specification. Keys draw on the same credit balance as the web app, at the same prices, with no separate developer plan.

Do my credits expire if I only use the API occasionally?▼

No. The balance has no expiry, no monthly reset and no rollover cap, which is the property an intermittent automated workload actually needs. A batch job that runs once a quarter draws on the same balance you topped up months earlier.

What happens when a generation fails?▼

The credits go back to your balance automatically, without a ticket and without anyone having to agree with you first. That is worth checking on any platform you evaluate, because a failed video render on a flagship model is not a rounding error.

Are those Trustpilot complaints representative?▼

Treat the scores as weak evidence and the mechanisms as strong evidence. The review counts are small, and developer platforms whose users rarely visit the marketing site collect grievances and almost no praise, so the ratings are skewed by construction. What is informative is that each complaint describes a specific mechanism: a spending limit bypassed, a balance wiped without notice, a support request unanswered for months. Those are checkable claims rather than sentiment.
